Location: Hybrid – working from home, the Fund’s offices in Buckinghamshire and various RAF Stations
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 plus benefits (30 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, contributable pension, death in service benefit and private medical cover)
About the organisation:
They support the RAF through their grant funding programmes to ensure personnel can access sports and physical activities at all levels.They deliver integral support to individuals, RAF Stations and Sports Associations - ultimately, they want everyone regardless of their role, rank, physical ability or competing level to have access to sports facilities, equipment and training.
About the role:
They are looking for a creative, organised and experienced Programme Manager to deliver the Fund’s grant giving objectives. Their programmes are designed to support as many serving personnel as possible to achieve their full potential through sport and physical activities.
The Programme Manager will manage all aspects of the programmes, from concept and implementation to evaluating the social impact. You will manage relationships with key stakeholders and will need to be comfortable delivering presentations, leading seminars and think tanks, supporting fundraising and designing new and innovative ways of supporting their beneficiaries.
The applicant will need to be comfortable with travel (some overnights), mainly to RAF stations within the UK on average twice a month. The selected candidate will enjoy a hybrid working environment, based at home with weekly (on average) visits to the office near Marlow, Buckinghamshire.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked in the charity sector for a minimum of 3 years.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain a cohesive grant giving programme; developing priorities for funding and a suitable mechanism for identifying appropriate projects, undertaking research and overseeing the preparation of proposals and policies.
- Provide prospective grant applicants with advice, guidance, bid development and business planning advice.
- Lead on the RAF Station Ambassadors programme, including recruiting new ambassadors and ensuring current ambassadors are kept up to date with Fund and station bids information.
- Run both internal and external grant committee meetings, ensuring that recommendations to the Grants Committee and Trustees are in line with policies.
- Support the Marketing and Communications team by providing content from beneficiaries to support the Communications Strategy.
- Assist in the management of financial and administrative systems for controlling and monitoring funding.
- Develop strong relationships with a wide range of contacts at RAF Stations, visiting potential and approved projects as needed.
- Undertake any research projects with regards to current and potential beneficiary groups.
- Be responsible for supporting the Grants Assistant and Operations Assistants with the effective assessment and processing of grant applications.
- Promote the work of the charity through presentations and external visits.
- Monitor legislation and regulatory matters as they relate to the grants giving programme.
