Market Research Analyst

Hertford (Office based)

Monday – Friday , 9am till 6pm (1 hour lunch)

Salary - £34,000 - £52,000

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and strategic-minded individual to join their team as a Market Research Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive international market, industry, and competitor research analysis to identify business development opportunities.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to gather and analyse data, assess market landscapes, and provide strategic recommendations to guide the company's expansion and development initiatives.

The role reports to their CMO and is based at their UK Hertford Head Office.

The Analyst will be required to:

· Conduct a wide range of international market, industry, and competitor analysis to evaluate business development opportunities.

· Analyse retailer landscape and potential market size for FOB sales opportunities.

· Evaluate the e-commerce landscape and consumer demand for potential D2C opportunities.

· Gather, review, test, and challenge data to identify expansion opportunities and develop plans to guide and determine the direction to actualise goals.

· Identify and prioritise corporate development activities to align with overall business goals.

· Develop robust analyses to drive strategic recommendations for business growth.

· Monitor and analyse external developments of relevance.

· Provide periodic updates on competitors and the firm's business performance.

· Report on domestic and international industry trends, competitive landscape, and market opportunities/risks.

· Develop business-specific market, and customer knowledge, serving as subject matter expert.

· Collaborate across all business functions, helping to knit information together and ensure key business decisions, are grounded in robust data.

Our Analyst will be required to develop an in-depth understanding of potential target markets in terms of size, potential customer appetite, competitive landscape, e-commerce maturity, pricing structures, barriers to entry, hygiene factors (legislation, consumer rights, quality standards) and ease of doing business.

Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate is inherently curious, commercially minded and a highly motivated self-starter.

· Proven experience in market research, business analysis.

· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

· Capacity to learn quickly and execute accurately.

· Comprehensive knowledge of international markets and business development strategies. and familiarity of the retail sector is essential.

· Expertise and creativity in gathering qualitative and quantitative research.

· Confident in manipulating large data sets using simple formulae and data analysis techniques, drawing out key trends and limitations; ability to construct basic models.

· Ability to work highly autonomously, seeking information internally and externally to build business cases.

· Ability to work effectively at all levels of an organization and build strong relationships with team members, managers, and senior executives in multiple locations.

· Agile & adaptable to changing priorities.

· Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

Bachelor's or equivalent degree, ideally in a relevant field, with a strong record of academic achievement (relevant work experience or specialised training can be used in lieu of educational requirement).

5 years relevant work experience, ideally gained in a consulting, corporate strategy or business development.
