JavaScript Developer with strong mobile experience

Our client is an international company with offices in the UK, Portugal, UAE and the US. They work with organisations to create digital and technology platforms to drive transformation, develop capabilities and deliver digital and transactional experiences that build a business around the world.

They are looking for a talented JavaScript Developer with strong mobile experience to join their International JavaScript Engineering Team and to work with them on an extraordinary project.

You will be working with React Native, Node js and Mongo DB and will be working with the Development team to help design and develop their applications focussing on the mobile elements and will be based in their office nearby Bath - The Glove Factory Studios.

The Role:

The JavaScript developer will be responsible for translating code into user-friendly applications. You will collaborate with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications while working in a fast-paced environment. JavaScript developers will also develop application programming interfaces (APIs) to support mobile functionality while keeping up to date with terminology, concepts and best practices for coding mobile apps. Essentially, you will contribute to the design, testing, releasing and support of the application. You will also need to be aware of and raise team awareness of platform specific limitations options and issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and plan for new features
  • Create and unit test mobile applications using React Native
  • Provide suggestions and inputs for best practice and approach
  • Work constructively with other team members to achieve pragmatic solutions
  • Understand and highlight the pros and cons of different approaches for different platforms
  • Translate visual designs into working applications maintaining fidelity of the design
  • Work with design and ux team to inform them of limitations of platform ui and performance
  • Develop application programming interfaces (APIs) to support mobile functionality
  • Suggest and implement new mobile products, applications and protocols
  • Remain up to date with the terminology, concepts and best practices for coding mobile apps
  • Work closely with colleagues to constantly innovate app functionality and design
  • Use and adapt existing web applications for apps
  • Write unit and UI tests to identify errors
  • Communicate with users to understand their needs and experiences

About you:

  • 3+ years of demonstrable experience
  • Demonstrable portfolio of released applications on the App store or the Android market
  • Extensive knowledge of React and React Native
  • Familiarity with design principles
  • Experience with third-party libraries and APIs
  • Superior analytical skills with a good problem-solving attitude
  • Ability to perform in a team environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow technical plans
  • Cypress or similar End to End testing experience
